20111020-SOR5th ANNUAL School Rocks! CONCERT ON OCTOBER 20 to Benefit San Miguel Schools Chicago

Over $1 million raised for student scholarships and support since the first benefit concert

CHICAGO – San Miguel Schools Chicago sanmiguelchicago.org announced it will host its 5th annual School Rocks! benefit concert on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Chicago’s House of Blues. The concert will feature the legendary Cheap Trick and British rock band Badfinger. DJ sets from DJ A.T. will kick off the evening. All School Rocks!proceedsprovide scholarship and community support to San Miguel students. The event begins with a VIP Reception at 6:00 pm. Tickets and info available at sanmiguelrocks.org.

San Miguel Schools provide innovative and accessible education for inner-city children. 2011 marks the 5th year for the School Rocks! event, which has raised over $1 million in scholarships and community support for San Miguel students.

School Rocks! celebrity co-chairs include: Celia Chavez, president of Telemundo Chicago; Pete McMurray, Morning Radio Host, WLUP 97.9 The Loop; Marv Nyren, Regional Vice President, Emmis Digital; and Larry Wert, President of NBC 5/WMAQ-TV. During the School Rocks! benefit, San Miguel will present its Leadership in Education Award to Mrs. Lina Abraham for her decade long support and commitment to San Miguel Schools. With her late husband Gene, Mrs. Abraham established the Gene and Lina Abraham Family Foundation to provide scholarship support for San Miguel middle students and graduates attending high school.
