cofoundersDear Friends,

We are excited that you are here to learn more about this mission of hope that is transforming lives and neighborhoods in Chicago.

The San Miguel Schools are all about transformation...we believe that education is the most transforming gift you can offer a child. It is a gift that provides opportunity! We currently operate two middle school campuses on the south and west sides of Chicago serving approximately 200 middle school students and their families. Students read in the classroom for 80 minutes a day and receive individualized attention to experience success and be able to catch up to their grade level. In fact, there is one teacher for every ten students, optimizing the students' potential!

Additionally, all families and alumni of San Miguel Schools are supported through the Family and Graduate Support Program. This program provides tutoring, mentoring, and other youth development activities for nearly 200 youth during high school. We are so proud of our graduates who continue to defy the odds of their neighborhoods by achieving the following successes:

  • 96% of all current high school aged students are enrolled in high schools

  • 53% of alumni pursue post-secondary education or trade school

  • San Miguel graduates earn Bachelor's Degrees at a rate five times higher than the Chicago average for Latino students

Families and the community at large receive educational opportunities for adults, clinical counseling for students and their families, and increased collaboration among other neighborhood organizations, all of which promote development in the Back of the Yards and Austin areas.

Your involvement is what makes all this possible! Together, we can help provide a future with greater opportunity and stability to children and families in Chicago's most challenged neighborhoods!

Enjoy our website. We hope it will inspire you to consider a visit soon!
