President's Welcome:
Dear friends,
We are excited that you are here to learn more about this mission
of hope that is transforming lives and neighborhoods in Chicago.
The San Miguel Schools are all about transformation... we believe that education is the most transforming gift you can offer a child,
it is a gift that provides opportunity!
We currently operate two middle school
campuses on the south and west sides of Chicago serving approximately 200 middle school students and their families. Students read in the classroom for
80 minutes a day and receive plenty of individualized attention to experience success and be able to catch up to their grade level. In fact, there is one
teacher for every nine students, optimizing the students' potential!
Additionally, all alumni of San Miguel Schools are supported during their high school years through the
Graduate Support Program, which provides tutoring, mentoring, and financial aid. This program has been so successful that 98% of all current high school aged students are enrolled in high schools!
(compare to the neighborhood graduation rate of less than 50% in five years!)
Families and the community at large are strengthtened by the Family Support Program, which
offers one-on-one services as well as community projects and workshops in the areas of health, safety, finances and immigration information.
Your involvement is what makes all this possible! Together, we can help provide a future with greater opportunity and stability to children and families in Chicago's most
challenged neighborhoods!
Enjoy our new website. We hope this site will inform and touch! We hope it will inspire you to consider a visit soon!
